(Winchester and Oxford).- Agood bat and fine field ; bowlsslow roundat times with success. plenty of hit when required ; moderate field ; captained the eleven with judgment. READ, W. W.-Plays very straight , and hits all round with great freedom; a fine field anywhere, and can also keep wicket . SHUTER, J. (Winchester ).- Apretty bat, playing very hard, especially on the off-side; hasretired fromfirst -class cricket. S U S S E X . ARLINGTON, G. H.-A fine hard-hitting batsman; a good field , but apt to be ✓careless ; can keep wicket . BRANN, G.-A fine free bat andgood field ; was in splendid form for the Countylast year. FRY, C. B. (Repton and Oxford).-A n excellent all -round cricketer ; a fin free -hitting bat ; a good fast bowler and safe field . N E W H A M, W .-Avery fine bat ; good field ; at times a useful change bowler played good cricket throughout the season . MURDOCH, W . L.-- Still one of the very best amateur batsmenof the day; and a fine judge of the game; captained the side with great judgment . RANJITSINHJI , K. S. (Cambridge ).--Avery fine bat with a great variety of strokes ; though not in the best of health was none the less in brilliant form last year; fine field at point , anduseful change bowler . HARTLEY, J. C. (Tonbridge and Oxford).-Plays for Kent. W A R W I C K S H I R E . BAINBRIDGE, H. W. (Eton and Cambridge). Oneof the best amateur batsmen of the day, playing a safe game ; keen cricketer ; safe catch and reliable field ; captained the eleven with great judgment. BYRNE, J. F.-A batsmanof great promise, watching the ball well , and scoring regularly in good style ; had an average of 33 for 20 innings in this his first season with his County; change bowler and smart slip . FISHWICK, T. S.-Promising bat; but met with little success in this his s e c o n dseason. G L O V E R, A. C. S.-G o o dbatsmanwith free and attractive , style, but rather inclined to hit too much; smart field ; averaged 29 per innings . HILL, J. E.-Sound bat ; hits well all round the wicket , generally getting runs ; good field , safe catch ; business prevented his playing anything like regularly . WILLIAMS, R.-Tried in several matches and met with some success as a bats- m a n; should develop into a useful player ; keen field . W I L T S H I R E . ASHFIELD, C. E. (Marlborough).- Afine bat and good field . Not often available. AWDRY, C. S. (Winchester and Oxford).-A greatly improved bat, especially goodat driving ; a keen hard-working cricketer ; was not so sure in the field as last year. BEAVEN, J. F.-Promising steady bat. Muchimproved in the field .
