Cornabe (40), captain : A nexcellent bat, combining gooddefence with capital run-getting powers. Toomuchinclined to push a ball off his legs instead of hitting it. Good field and wicket -keeper . N. C. Phillips (22) : A promising and pretty bat, his late cutting very effective . Capital judge of a run. Goodfield and fair change bowler. T. A. Tapp(16) : A determined and hard-hitting bat, but is inclined to sacrifice his wicket for a slog ; has, however, improved immensely. A good fast bowler, but must keep his armup. Slow in the field . H. B. Hartley (13) : Hasplayed somegood innings , and should make a telling bat next season. Very fair change bowler and good field . L. D. Johnston (12) : Has batted consistently well ; has good defensive powers , but mustlearn to punish more. Not good as a field . R. D. Craig (11) : Hasgood defence, but not sufficient offence . Mustlearn to play out more. Cantake wickets ; capital point . S. B. Winch (9) : Withcare will bat well next season , but wants alittle moreconfidence ; hits well to leg. Good field . K. M. Bruce (7) : Hashardly comeup to expectations , but has batted fairly well on one or two occasions . Apt to play across the course of the ball . Smart field . S. K. Anderson (3) : Very good left -handbowler . Great things expected of him next season . Mustimprove his batting . Fair field . G. Channer (3) : Bats well at the nets, but does not c o m eoff in a match. T o oanxious to score. Should remember W.G.'s advice , " Take care of your wickets and the runs will take careofthemselves." Long : Avery good bat; plays well all round the wicket ; rather nervous at present . Goodbowler and field . M. A. Girdlestone : A n improved bat ; whenset hits well all round.. S. Miller : Agood bat; has a pretty late cut. Makes a good point . F A. S. Sewell : Will makea good bat whenstronger . A very good slow bowler ; breaks both ways . Fair field . W. L. Marston : Ahard -hitting bat ; has a good eye, and scores very freely . Agood fast left -hand bowler ; comes in a great deal with his arm. E. J. Kindle : Afair bat. Very good field . R. F. Bowes : Useful bat ; generally scores whenwanted. Fair field . D. H. Marks : Canhit , but too eager to score . Goodfield . W. H. Bowes : Improved in his batting ; too nervous. Fair field . S. B.
