As captain hasshownmore than ordinary judgmentin the managementof his side and in placing the fielders . Robert Ross : A hard hitter ; would be more successful if he hit straighter . A nenergetic field and safe catch . Avery useful fast bowler, difficult to play with confidence at first ; somewhaterratic , but latterly much steadier . Frederick W. Henderson : A disappointing bat in a match; makes too m a n ypoor strokes . A sound wicket -keeper, whotakes his chances well . Gordon Addison-Scott : A quick scorer whenhe gets set , but has manyweak strokes at the beginning of his innings . At the end of the season has been a useful bat several times . A nimproved field . J. Harper Orr (1894-5-6-7 ) : His bowling has been effective , but is too slow on a good wicket to puzzle a patient batsman. Afine field , with a safe pair of hands. Auseful bat; often makes runswhenthey are badly wanted. Christopher W. Wordsworth : A useful bat, but apt to play across and get his legs in front of the wicket . Covers a lot of ground in the deep field , and has a good return . George C. Glenny : Afine bat, makinghis runs by powerful driving ; lost his form towards end of term. Afirst -class field at cover, and very safe catch . J. Bruce Kerr : Good medium pace bowler, with quick rise from the ground ; sometimes apt to over -pitch and bowl too muchto leg. A neffective bat, with plenty of determination . Good field andcatch . J. Hebden Gillespie : First-rate deep field , with splendid return , anda safe pair of hands. A muchimproved bat ; has again shownmorepluck in emergencies , J. P. Blake - Whelan : A very fine deep field , quick in covering ground, and safe . A stubborn bat, muchabove the average for last batsman. Keepshis head well in difficulties . ood
