WINCHESTERCOLLEGE ELEVEN IN 1897.-*A. B. Reynolds : Captained a weakside with excellent judgment, and never lost heart . Areally goodwicket- keeper, but somewhatdisappointing as a bat. *R. A. Williams : A good all- round player. Most dangerous bat, though too fond of getting in front of his wicket . Steady mediumpace bowler with , a break from the off . *E. B. Noel : Asoundbat, watching the ball well , and with some good strokes on the off-side . A good field at short slip , and fair slow bowler . *R. C. Hunter : Hardly im- proved to the extent that wasexpected , Fair bat and change bowler , andgood catch . R. S. Darling : A really sound bat who, with more experience , should become first class . Good ground field anywhere. J. L. Stow : Sound and painstaking bat. Must learn to play harder in front of the wicket . Excellent field anywhere, and safe catch. *H. V. Gillett : A hard-working cricketer , always doing his best . Fair bat , generally making runs whenmost wanted. *F. D. G. H. Joy: Amost useful left -hand bowler , rather over medium pace , with a break from leg . Good ground field , especially at mid-off . S. N. Mackenzie : A most promising all -round cricketer , hitting very hard at times . Should develop into a really fine player . *E. O. Lewin : Ahard -hitting bat, with good nerve . Improved greatly as the year advanced , and played an invaluable innings against Eton. L. M. Stevens : Agood medium pace bowler , delivering areally difficult ball if the wicket helps him at all .
