Noton (captain ) : Hashardly madethe progress in batting this year that was expected , but will probably show much improved form. H e is an excellent wicket -keeper, and has madean energetic and hard-working captain . *J. Daniell : Has improved and become more steady as a bat , without losing his powers of hitting . He is a very fine field , and bowls fast as a change . N. O. Tagart : Cuts prettily ; he would bat better if he wouldplay his strokes through . H efields well at point , andbowls occasionally . *H. G. Garnett : Is a fine bat, andscores fast w h e nset. H eis a safe catcha n d a good field , and his slow bowling , which breaks back a good deal , proved very useful . *S. V. Williams : Is a useful bat, with a good off-drive ; a very good field , and bowls as a change. *J. P. Lawson : Is a hard-hitting but uncertain bat, and a fast andbumpingbowler, inclined to pitch short . H e sometimes does brilliant things . W. J. Verrall : Is a promising fast bowler, varying his pace and pitch with some judgment. H s shows some signs also of becominga useful bat. R. G. Raw Doesnot take enough trouble to becomea good bat, though he has muchcricket ability . His bowling is deceptive , and will be very destructive if he will study pitch . H e is a good field . *J. Monteath : Is a steady and confident bat, and good field . *A. H. Bentley : Is a very fair bat and cuts well ; a hard -working field , and bowls as a change . *W. S. Luce : Bats in good style ,but has not much power yet . His slow bowling will be useful whenhe gets morecommandof pitch . H e has improved some- w h a tint h efield. D U L W I C H C O L L E G E .
