All the same the Yorkshire batting , even as the ground was, left muchto be desired . The one exception was Mr. F. S. Jackson, who just failed to carry his bat through Yorkshire's first innings of 100, andwasnot out in the second for 59 out of 162. Thoughthe scoring was in no case high mostof the CambridgeEleven got a few runs. Mr. L. J. Moon, who did not get his blue subsequently , had the best aggregate with 17 and 26. The most notable cricket on the side , though, wasthat of Mr. G. L. Jessop , who scored 8 and25 not out besides taking six wickets for 45 runs. Cambridge wonby four wickets . ThePhiladelphians did a good performance at the outset in making 225 against the Yorkshire bowling , although Hirst and Haigh were away. Their highest scorer was A. M. W o o d(52), with E. M. Cregar (50) and J. B. King(49) the next in point of success . N oplay was possible on the second day, andonthe third Yorkshire , who had lost four of their best wickets on the first night for 77, could only , with rain intervening , add 27 without another fall .
