Good bowler and field ; an effective batsman with plenty of hit; did fairly well for the Countyin 1895 , and played one good innings o f1 1 9. JONES, A. O. (Cambridge).- Avery good bat, and excellent field at slip ; played some very good innings for the County in 1896 . OSCROFT, P. W .-Goodbat and field ; has hardly played upto his form of 1894. ROBINSON, J. S. (Harrow and Cambridge).-Batsin excellent style , with defence as well as hit ; good field ; plays little first -class cricket now. WRIGHT, C. W . (Charterhouse and Cambridge).- Avery good bat, with good defence ; an excellent wicket -keeper. O X F O R D S H I R E . BROWNING, C. E.-Played little last year; has excellent defence , and generally makesruns; a fine field . CASE, W. S.-Dangerous bat, fine field , and useful change bowler. DEANE, F.-Fine cover-point , and a batsman of considerable ability ; was unable to play muchin 1896 . FORBES, A. J.-Agood bat and field , very strong onthe off -side ; unfortunately wasonly available during a few matches. HEADLAM, C.-First -class wicket -keeper , but poor bat. LEE, D. C.-Possesses excellent defence , and is a very useful m a n. MILLER, A. C.-The most promising bat in the team, and should have a good chance of getting into the Cambridge XI.; possesses excellent style and cuts very hard; is also a good field . SMITH, W, jun.-Has anything but good style , but possessing splendid defence, and can punish in a most effective manner, but last season failed to c o m eoff save in the last match; sure catch. W E L L S, W. A. Has come on wonderfully as a bat ; very difficult to get out WILLIAMS, R. A.-- Promises well both as a bat and bowler ; was in Winchester w h e nheplays his own game; safe catch . X I.; should be of great assistance next year. WOOD, G. R. , captain . The most stylish bat in the County , and good field ; madean excellent captain ; was along waybelow his best form last season .
