(Wellington ).- Agood bat and smart field , and likely to prove of great assistance to the County. MARCHANT, F. (Etonand Cambridge).-A good bat and field ; a very fast run- getter w h e nset. MASON, J. R. (Winchester ).-Scored consistently throughout the season , and has a finished style of batting ; is a very smart slip , and a good change b o w l e r. MEYRICK -JONES , Rev. F. (Cambridge ).-A free hitter ; unfortunately for the Countyunable to play often . M O R D A U N T, E.C.-Avery fair bat. MORDAUNT, G. J. (Wellington and Oxford).-A nelegant bat and a brilliant field. PATTERSON, W. H. (Harrow and Oxford). A fair and taking bat, with un- wearying defence ; also a fair change bowler and good field . RASHLEIGH, Rev. W. (Tonbridge and Oxford ).- Afine batsman , with a great variety of strokes , and scores very fast whenonce in ; wasvery successful whenheplayed , which was not often . SIMPSON, E. H.--- Played a fine innings of 94 against Lancashire, but failed to keep up his form afterwards . STEWART, H. C.-Plays in good style ; excellent field . WEIGALL, G. J. V. (Wellington and Cambridge).- H a simproved greatly as a batsman, and invariably scores on a hard wicket ; has an elegant style , cutting being his strong point . BURNUP, C. J. , and SHINE, E. B. (Cambridge) play for Kent. L A N C A S H I R E . BENTON, C. H. (Harrow).--- Goodbatsman, with plenty of hit , and capital field . HORNBY, A. N. (Harrow).-Still a dangerous bat, hitting very freely ; as energetic as ever in the field . HOULDSWORTH, W. L. H.-Hits very hard, and is useful in the out-field . HUBBACK, T. R.-Excellent reserve wicket -keeper ; very fair batsman. MCLAREN, A. C. (Harrow).- O n eof the very best amateur batsmenin England, having splendid defence , with plenty of punishing power ; played very fine cricket in thelatter part of last season. ROWLEY, E. B.-A good bat and smart field ; ought to be of great use to the C o u n t y. TINDALL, Š. M.-Plays free cricket , with any amount of pluck ; a good field . BARDSWELL, G. R. (Uppinghamand Oxford), and PILKINGTON, C. C. (Eton and Oxford).-Play for Lancashire . L E I C E S T E R S H I R E . ARNALL, W .E. (Repton).-Goodfast bowler ; excellent field andfair bat.
