(Cheltenham and Oxford ).-A hard -working and excellent all- round cricketer ; bowls mediumround; resolute hitter , and fine field anywhere. Plays no first -class cricket now. RICE , R. W. (Oxford ).-Hasa very fine defence , and is very steady ; cannot play as often as the County could wish. SEWELL, C. O. H. (South Africa). Is a fine hitting bat with good defence ; excellentfield. TOWNSEND, C. L. (Clifton ).-Thoughnot so successful as in 1895, still one of the best amateur slow bowlers in England; breaks both ways, anduses his head well ; an excellent left -handedbatsmanandgood field . BENCRAFT, R.-Agood bat, hitting hard on the off -side ; is a safe catch . BENNETT, R. A.-A good wicket -keeper aud useful bat ; likely to be of service to the County. BRADFORD, E. R.-A fine bat, with good defence , and a safe field ; was of use to the County, whenhis military duties permitted himto play. BUCKLAND, E. H. (Marlborough and Oxford).-Avery good all-round cricketer , being a dangerous bat, useful bowler, and smart field . CURRIE, C. E. (Cambridge).-A good slow right -handed bowler, breaking bothways; splendid field ; poor bat ; rarely plays now. DELME RATCLIFFE , A. W. (Sherborne ).-A fair bat and field . FORSTER, H. W . (Eton and Oxford).-A n excellent all -round cricketer ; fine bat, goodleft -hand slow bowler , and excellent field . HESELTINE, C. (Eton).-A good fast bowler and improving bat. HILL, A. J. L. (Marlborough and Cambridge ). A very useful all -round cricketer ; first -rate bat ; at times effective bowler and sure field ; was, unfortunately for the County, absent in 1896. LACEY, F. E. (Sherborne andCambridge).-A fine all -round cricketer ; bats in neat style , andcan hit hard; a good field , andat times effective as a slow round-a r mbowler. LEE, E. C. (Winchester).-A very promising all -round cricketer . PILLANS, A. A.-Useful change bowler ; fair bat ; poor field . QUINTON , Captain F. W. D. (Cheltenham ). One of the best bats in the Army; aconsistent scorer ; has a safe pair of hands in the field . RICHARDS, C. J. R.-A useful bat andgood field . ROBSON, C.-A very useful cricketer , always safe for runs ; a fair wicket- keeper. STEELE,D. A.-Fair bat, andfast bowler ; splendid field . W A R D, H. F.-Asafe bat; fair field . WYNYARD, Captain E. G. (Charterhouse ).-First-class wicket -keeper ; a fine free bat , hitting well all round ; magnificent field ; in great form in 1896 .
