BARRINGTON , W. B. L. (Charterhouse ).-Likely to train on as a good bat ; good field ; canthrowwell. CHAPMAN, F. E.-A patient and painstaking bat ; useful at the wicket . CLARKEC. C.--A keen all -round cricketer ; bats and fields well ; always cheerful. COLLINS, L. G. A. (Marlborough).-Perhaps the most finished bat in the County, all round the wicket with perfect wrist action ,his cutting through the slips being especially well timed; can bowl, and a very neat field anywhere. CROOME, A. C. M. (Wellington College and Oxford).-Has acted as captain of the team; adashing all -round hitter and good change bowler , getting plenty ofbreak both ways; knowsthe gamein every department thoroughly . DAFFEN. A good bat ; slow but sure ; fast right -arm bowler, comingoff the pitch with somebreak, very quickly . DAUGLISH M. J. (Harrow and Oxford University C.C. ).- Afine wicket -keeper ; a freebat , makesruns occasionally . FIELD, E.(Clifton and Cambridge ).- H a snot had much practice in batting this year; a capital field . FINCH , F. W. (Haileybury ).- O nhis day a most effective slow bowler , right- arm, with plenty of curl from leg ; very useful at point . HEASMAN, W. G.-A dangerous bat , with grand defence ; has helped the Countybut little . HILL, E. F.-Likely to prove a very useful bat and bowler . INGRAM, F. M. (Winchester).--A safe run-getting bat, and excellent cover- point. NEPEAN, Captain C. E. M. Y.-A most hard-working cricketer all round; a watchful bat, punishes loose balls unmercifully ; canbowl a useful medium pace , and is active in the field , especially at short slip . D E R B Y S H I R E . CURGENVEN, H. G.-Wasin the Repton School eleven , and nowat Cambridge ; played in five matches with fair amount of success ; looks like makinga useful m e m b e rof the team. EVERSHED, S. H. (Clifton ), captain . A hard-hitting bat; smart field ; cap- tained the team with excellent judgment, and increased his average from26 for 1895 to 33. MARSDEN, G. A. Greatly improved as a bat, and has an average of 15 ; one of the finest out-fields of the day. WALKER, G. G.-Only played in two matches in 1896 , and was not very successful. WRIGHT, L. G . Oneof the best bats in the team, and a very smart field atpoint ; wassixth in the averages with 25. I
