N o win residence at Magdalen College , Oxford . G. C. Valpy (23) : A vastly improved and reliable bat, with rather awkward style . Good medium -pace bowler , and met with remarkable success in two or three matches. Goodfield . C. M. Skinner (21) : Adecidedly good bat; has lost the nervousness which crippled his play last year ; hits hardandclean , but rather too eager to score . Most useful fast bowler, and had a capital analysis . Much improved field . Captain for 1897. A. S. Athawes (16) : Good steady bat, but wants more confidence . Excellent point . T. B. Wacher (12) : Batted well the first part of the seaeon, but fell off after- wards; plays with a straight bat, but rather slow. C. H. Bodington (10) : Showsgreat promise with the bat, and has a nice style . Rather slow in the field . A. J. Fenn (8) : Did not prove nearly so useful with either bat or ball as last season . Poorfield . C. H. Clarke (7) : Fell off from his moderate form of last year ; seems too careless to improve. Muchimproved field . J. B. Hart- Davies (7) : Fair bat and field . R. M.
