Rowe: Amost dangerous , hard-hitting bat, quite recovering his best form towards the end of the season . Avery safe field and catch . As captain managed his team with sound judg- ment. *A. L. Gibson : Avery sound and patient bat, frequently " stopping a rot " with excellent judgment. A steady slow bowler and a fair field . *J. T. Weatherby : A most reliable bat to go in first , with excellent nerve and some fine strokes on the off -side . Splendid ground field . *E. C. Lee: A useful mediumpace bowler, with a slight curl from leg. Very hard-hitting bat, and fine field in the slips . *R. L. G. Irving : A n uncertain bat ; played some brilliant innings , getting his runs chiefly on the off-side . Beautiful ground field , with a good return . *F. H. Latham: A most useful cricketer on a side , being a difficult m a nto get out. Afair bat. Erratic left -hand bowler. Safe field andcatch . A. B. Reynolds : Kept wicket excellently during the greater part of the season , being particularly good on the leg side . Should makea goodbat next year. Captain for 1897. R. A. Williams : Scored most consis- tently throughout the season , rarely failing at a crisis . Most useful medium pace bowler , with a good slow ball . E. B. Noel: Quite justified his place in the team by his innings against Eton. Should be a really good bat next season . Fine field in the slips . C. S. Awdry : Areally hard -working cricketer . Powerfulbat, but fell off as the season advanced. Fair fast bowler. R. C. Hunter: Useful bowler and good field at point . With more confidence and determinationwill traino nintoa fair b a t.
