Darlington (1895-6 ) : At the beginning of the season showed very good form with the bat, but fell off considerably later . Good field in any position . * G. D. Hignett (1895-6 ) : Has proved disappointing with the bat during the season , except in the M.C.C. match , when he showed good form . Afair medium-paced bowler, with rather a low action . Safe field , with good return . H. F. Adkins (1896 ) ; Has proved an excellent fast bowler . Witha very easy action , keeps a good length , and seldom tires . A useful run-getting bat . Goodfield . L. V. Harper (1896) : A promising bat, but has a very awkward flourish , which he must try to get rid of. Slowin the field , and inclined to be slack . N. V. Jacob (1896 ) : A most nseful batsman , with very strong defence and possessed of great patience . Slow in the field , though he works hard. *H. F. Severn (1896) : Has improved considerably as a wicket-keeper since the beginning of the season , stopping the ball well on the leg side . A better bat than his average might indicate . O. B. Webb(1896), 12th m a n: A useful hard-hitting bat,but muchtoo fond of pulling straight balls . Moderatefast bowler, but sometimes terribly erratic . Casual in the field .
