A soundbat, with good defence andgreat driving power. Avery useful change bowler and a splendid field . A. D. Legard : Was most disappointing as a batsman, and seemed to have lost all form up till Lord's. A good field , and with practice might become a fair slow bowler. R. Lubbock : A fine bat, with a fine style , anda most consistent scorer , playing hard all round the wicket. Greatly improved in fielding . H. C. Pilkington : A very good bat, with excellent style , especially good at keeping downthe ball onthe off -side . A slow and sleepy field and a poor judge of a run . B. J. T. Bosanquet : Avery useful all -round cricketer . Bats in a stiff and awkward style ; hits hard, especially on the leg side . A very fair fast bowler and safe field . F. H. Mitchell : Bowls lobs with muchjudgment and accuracy . A s a batsman watches the ball well , but has been rather disappointing . A nexcellent field . C. K. Hutchison : A correct bat with good style , but errs somewhaton the side of steadiness . A quick and active field . C. H. Browning : A first -class wicket- keep, with a quiet and impressive style . Astubborn bat . F. H. Hollins : A useful bat with many good strokes , but fell off towards end of half . A n admirable cover-point with quick and accurate return . G. Tryon : Amedium paced left -handbowler. Lost his sting towards end of half. A free bat, not altogether void of defence . Acapital field . Hon. G. Ward: Bowls fast right- handwith a good yorker ; met with great success in early matches, though h efailed at WinchesterandLord's. A n unsuccessful bat anduncertainfield . E.
