The wicket was easy while they were batting , and Mr.Roe(46), Capt.Hedley(40), Messrs. Woods (35), andR. C. N. Palairet (31), madebest use of their opportunities . The Australians began badly, losing Iredale for nine andDarling for none. Giffen (40) andDonnan(47) brought the total to 88, and then camesuch a complete collapse that the whole side were out for 129. Robson's bowling was responsible for this . H e took six wickets for 22 runs. Somersetshirein their second innings lost the brothers Palairet and Capt. Hedley for one run, but at the end of the second day the total had increased by 48 for the loss of three more batsmen. Rain prevented any play on the third day, so that the gamewasdrawn with Somersetshire 139 on andfour wickets in hand. Somersetshire , 219 and 49 (6wickets ) ; total , 268. Australians , 129 .
