Stoddart (93) and Douglas (69), as at Bradford , madea most promising start for Middlesex , it was not maintained . The innings , indeed , only realised 283 after all , and, thanks to Mr. A. O. Jones (70), Pike (66), Daft (50), and Messrs. Wright and Oscroft (41 and 40 respectively ), Notts headed this by 77. In the second innings Middlesex generally fared badly , and the exceptions were Mr. Stoddart (41) and Rawlin (35), and through themthe match wasdrawn.
