D eTrafford was not able to play for Leicestershire , and his absence was found to have a discouraging effect on the side . Wainwright and Peel , too , bowled in their best form , and Tomlin (18 and 12) was the highest scorer . Norwere Yorkshire's scores in any waynoteworthy . Denton's first innings of 46 was the best . The other Australian batsmen were all quite at home with the bowling they had to face , and all but Kelly got double figures , Darling (194) scored freely , and of the rest Gregory (102), Giffen (67), Donnan (66), and Trumble (45 not out) were the most successful . Against Giffen's bowling the majority of Leicestershire's batsmenfailed completely , with one exception . Theexception was Holland, who made41 of the 87 scored . Inthe follow on they madea better show. As it was, thanks to Geeson's excellent 53 not out , they just managed to draw, the last two batsmen being in. Australians , 584.
