Ranjitsinhji (64 and 33) played good cricket each time for them, but an aggregate of 408 for the matchwas of little use. The Sussex bowlers would have fared pretty well but for Frank Sugg (110 ) and Baker (81 ), and Ward's (34) was the best figure after them. Lancashire had at the finish only 62 to get to win, and these were got for the loss of Ward and Sugg. Lancashire won by eight wickets . Lancashire , 347 and 62 (2 wickets ) ; total , 409. At the finish they had 68 to get to win, and Paul and Ward (each 33) got them without the loss of a wicket . Lancashire , 186 and 70 (no wicket ) ; total , 256.
