Treasurer : J. McLaren. Assistant Secretary : F. Reynolds, 26, Barton Arcade, Manchester. THEall -round cricket of the Lancashire Eleven was consistent throughout , andtaking them on every kind of wicket they were fairly entitled to the honour of second place amongthe first -class counties . True that their bowling washardly as dangerous as in someprevious years. Still , whenthe wickets helped , Briggs , Mold, and Hallam were a very useful trio , and Baker often came to the rescue in emergencies . O n the other hand w h e n the pitches were in favour of run-getting , Lancashire had a side that could make runs very nearly to the last . Albert Wardwas hardly so certain as in 1894 , nor was Paul so brilliant as he had been on other occasions . But, with Mr. McLaren always making runs , Sugg generally successful , Ward, Paul , Tyldesley , Baker (the most useful all- round player on the side ) , and Briggs still sure at a crisis , there was the foundation of a big score at any time. In Mr. E. Rowley a young bat of promise was introduced , and in I'Anson an all -round cricketer of promise . Inbowling , though an injured finger handicapped Mold for a part of the year , hehad first place in the averages , while Hallam, who was generally reliable , took precedence of Briggs , the latter of whomhad to be content with third place .
