England; the first time Surrey had played England since I860.—On May 27, at Oxford, Gentlemen of England %rith Mold v. University, H. Philipson scored *13 and 35 (in each case not out), besides getting five of the fourteen Oxford batsmen out at the wicket.—On May 29, at Oxford, University v. Yoi'kshire, altogether 1,034 runs were scored in the four innings.— On May 25. at Bicklev Park, Bickley Park v. ^Nondescripts, E. Roche took 5 of Bickley Park’ s wickets with consecutive balls.— On June 2, at Oxford, University v. Kent, Kent made 205 wanted to win for the loss of 1 wicket; J. R. Mason was not out with 142.- On June2, at Manchester. Lancashire v. Leicestershire, A. Ward and Mold put on 111 for the last wicket in Lancashire’s second innings; Ward carried his bat through for 75 out of 168.— On May 30, Cambridge University v. Yorkshire, D. Denton and Hunter added 102 for Yorkshire’s tenth wicket. — On June 3, at Leyton, Essex v. Leicestershire, Pickett took all 10 wickets in Leicestershire first innings.—On June 3, at Lord’s, Middlesex v. Somersetshire, in the three days 1,156 ruus wrere scored for 3S wickets.— On April 20, at Melbourne, Melbourne Club v. Melbourne University, Melbourne Club scored 568 ; J. M. Blackham 146 (not out).—On June 7, at Cheltenham, Cheltenham College v. Liverpool Club, E. M. Barrett scored 205 for the College.— On June 10, at Lord's, Middlesex v. Yorkshire, in the match 1.040 runs were scored for 37 wickets^ — On June 13, at Brighton, Sussex v. Middlesex, Middlesex scored 566, Sir T. C. O’Brien 262 ; in the match 1,289 runs were scored for 28 wickets. —On June 6, at Oval, Surrey v. Gloucestershire, Suriey scored 405. — On June 6, at Manchester, Lancashire v. Kent. Lancashire scored 487 ; Mold took 16 of 17 Kent wickets that fell to the bowlers.— On June 6, at Brighton, Sussex v. Somersetshire, Sussex scored 518 in first innings, Somersetshire 165. In three days 1,344 runs were scored for 29 wickets; in Somersetshire’s innings Butt, the Sussex wicket-keeper, did not give a bye; he did not give one, in fact, for Sussex during the wreek ; the aggregate of 1,344 is the highest recorded in England in first-class cricket “ bar one.” S. M. J. Woods’ 215 for Somersetshire is the highest score for the County to date.—On June 8, at Cambridge, Cambridge University v. M.C.C. and Ground, Cambridge scored 515 : in the match 1,007 runs were made for 33 wickets. N. F. Druce’s 199 for Cambridge is the highest innings in a first-class match on the University ground up to date. On June 13, at Leicester, Dublin University v. Leicestershire, L. II. Gw ynn carried his bat through tho University’s innings for 153 out of 274.— On June 12, at the Curragh, Royal Munster Fusiliers v. Army Service Corps, Captain Oates and Private Fitzgerald put on 623 for the second wicket of the former, the largest number of runs put on for a wicket. Captain Oates scored 313, Private Fitzgerald 310.—June 13, at Oval, Surrey 2nd X I . v. Lancashire 2nd X I . , Lancashire scored 488 in their one innings. In the two days 995 runs were scored for 22 wickets.—On July 4, at Lord’s, Oxford v. Cambridge, there wore 67 extras, including 18 no-halls.—On July 12, at Lord’s, Eton v. Harrow', there w’erc 23 extras in an aggregate of 944 runs.—On July 26, at Oval, Sussex v.
