A very good all-round cricketer; a steady bat, with good defence, quite one of the best in the Eleven; excellent field, and good slow bowler at times; his trip to Australia appeared to have interfered with his batting in 1895, and it was only towards the end of the season that he was seen at his best. Made his debut for the County last season, and proved a great acquisition; is a good batsman, witii great defence ; a fine field, and can bowl; had an average of 24*13 for the County. Address : County Ground, Bradford. F oster , T. W.—Born at Dewsbury, November 12, 1871. A good slow bowler, very effective when the wicket helps him. Address : Tweedale Street, Boothroyd Lane. H unter , D av id . —Bom at Scarborough, March 23, 1862. One of the best wicket-keepers of the day; a useful bat at times. Address: Scarborough. H ir st , G. H.—Born at Kirkheaton, near Huddersfield, September 7, 1871. Fast left-handed bowler, one of the best of the day ; a much improved bat, and nearly always scores; was in great form with both bat and ball last season. Address : County Ground, Bradford. L ancaster , W. W.—Made his first appearance for the County last season, and with some success as a batsman; ought to prove of use to Yorkshire later on. Address: County Ground, Bradford. M ooriiouse , R obert . —Born at Berry Brow, September 7, 1866. 5 ft. 8 in .; 10 st. 10 lb . ; a good bat, showing to particular advantage on & quick wicket, hitting very freely all round; was in fine form throughout last season, and headed the Yorkshire averages with 35*69; a fine field and useful change bowler. P e e l , R o ber t . —Born at Churwell, February 12, 1857. 5ft. 6 in . ; l is t . 4 lbs. an excellent slow left-hand bowler, of good length, with plenty of break; quite the best in England; dangerous bat, and rarely fails to get runs ; a good field ; took 136 wickets for Yorkshire in 1895, and 180 in all first-class matches.
