Bin.; 14st.; one of the very best out-fields in the country; one of the best batsmen of the day, with neat style; has exceptional defence, but can hit when he likes; owing to sickness was rather out of form last season. G.—Born at Selston, aged 32. 5 ft. 11 in.; left-hand bowler, dangerous on a wet wicket; bowled well in the few matches he played in in 1895; excellent field; e ltawtenstall, Lancashire. Address: Selston, Nottingham. P ike , A.—liorn at Keyworth, aged 31. 5 ft. Sin.; a good wicket-keeper, very smart and neat; good bat; was only able to play on three occasions last season owing to sickness. Address : Keyworth, Plumtree, Notts ; e Lord’s, also 1896. S hrewsbury , A rthur .— Born at New Lenton, Nottingham, April 11, 1856. 5ft. 8in.; l is t . ; one of the very best batsmen of the day; bats in very neat style, and watches the ball closely; reliable on anywicket; a splendid field at point; after being absent from first-class cricket the whole of 1894,Jreappeared towards the latter end of last ‘ season, and with the greatest success, displaying all his old form, and coming out with an average of 48’46 for his County. A very promising all-round player ; a fast round-arm bowler; uses his head well, and has an excellent length; likely to develop into a useful bat. Address: County Ground, Nottingham. OXFORDSHIRE. A rnold , F.—Born at Cowley. A good all-round cricketer ; keeps wicket well and can both bat and bowl; fine field. R ogers , A.—Born at Cowley. Right hand bowler, bowls a good pace and at times very effective; a dashing bat, but possesses little defence. R ogers , P. —Born at Cowley. Good medium pace bowler and bowls with excellent judgment; has played several good innings for the County, but last season was decidedly “ off colour ” with the bat.
