H earnk , A lec . —Born at Ealing, July 22, 1853. 5 ft. b i n . ; 9st. 5lbs. ; a good slow round-arm bowler, with break from leg ; steady bat, with any amount of patience ; headed the County batting and bowling averages in 1895, and scored 1,477 runs in all matches. H earne , W a l t e r . —Born at Chalfont, St, G iles ’s, January 15, 1864. 5 ft. 11£ in ; 32 st.; a right-hand medium pace b ow le r ; bowled with great success in 1894, but was unfortunately prevented playing in 1895 owing to illness, and was a great loss to the County. B r igg s , J ohn . — Born at Sutton - in - Ashfield, October 13, 1862. 5 ft. 5 in ; 10 st. 6 lb s . ; a first-class all-ronnd cricketer, being a capital bat, good left- hand bowler and splendid field at cover -po in t ; bowled in fine form last season, but showed a great falling off as a bat.—Address: St. P e ter ’s Square, Manchester. H allam , J .—Born at Leicester ; good medium pace bowler and prom ising b a t ; made his first appearance for the County last season, and should prove useful to the team next year.
