C.—A promising bat and good field. W right , S. It.—A first-class fast bowler; good bat and field; has been useful to County ; cannot play much now. MIDDLESEX . B athurst , L. C. V. (Radley and Oxford).—A good slow bowler and fair b a t » only played twice for the County in 1895. B ray , E. 11. (Charterhouse and Cambridge).—A good bat and field ; useful wicket-keeper. D ouglas , J. (Cambridge).—A good bat and fair change bowler; a brilliant out­ field. F olly , C. I 1. (Eton and Cambridge).—A really fine bat, with plenty of strokes; scores fast when set; good field; did not play in 1895. F ord , F. G. J. (ltepton and Cambridge).—Bats and bowds left-handed; very firm h itter ; good change bowler, and splendid out-field; only played twice in 1895. H ayman , II. B.—A steady bat, with good defence; good field. H enlry , P. J. T. (Harrow' and Cambridge).—Sometimes a very dangerous batsman; good field in the country ; did not play in 1895. L ucas , R. S.—A very effective bat, scoring very fast when s e t ; brilliant field ; though he played one good innings of 185, not so successful in 1895. M c G regor , G. (Uppingham and Cambridge).—A splendid wicket-keeper; one of the very best of the day ; a good bat, scoring fast when set. Ni. plan , E. A. (Sherborne and Oxford).—A really first-class all-round cricketer; a sound bat. and very effective bowler—slow' round wTith a great break from le g ; good field ; only played twice in 1895. O 'B rien , Sir C. T. (Oxford).—A very dangerous batsman, scoring very fast when set; drives and cuts with great power ; good field; at the head of the batting averages in 1895 with 40*15. P hiljpkon , H. (Eton and Oxford).—One of the best amateur wicket-keepers of the day ; is a good bat and usually scores; only played twice for the County in 1895. S toddart , A. E .—One of the best amateur batsmen, combining power and freedom of style ; has no superiors as an out-field ; a very useful change bow ler: though not so successful on the hard wrickets of 1895 as m ig h t have been expected, yet had the good average of 50*93 for his County, and 37*72 in the general averages. T hornton , G.—Made his debut for Middlesex in 1895, and with excellent results, being second in the batting averages with 51*70, and bowling very Hucce-udully on several occasions; is a steady bat, with good defence, and an excellent alow bowler.
