B urrough , J.~rA sound bat, but has met with little success for the club this year; a slow bowler with big break from the off, but has had few wickets to suit him this season. C hapman , E. A.—A fair bat and hits very hard, seems more at home with medium class bowling, on his day a deadly bowler with very low' delivery; fair field. C oghlan , H. G.—Fair bat and field ; most useful bowler, bowling fast and with very high delivery. C uff , E. J.—A promising bat, and, if he would practice, would make a good wicket-keeper; indifferent field. D alton , F. D.—Will with increased strength make a good bat. but rather errs on the side of caution and consequently a very slow run-getter; has much improved as a field. D av ies , H . J.—A g o o d ba t , s c o r in g ra p id ly a fte r th e first few o v e r s ; a g o o d field and use fu l ch an g e b o w l e r ; is se ld om a va ilab le . L ew is , Dr.—A good bat, and fields well at point; has few opportunities for practice, and is very seldom available. M oore , F. J. S.—A painstaking bat, and, though not pretty or brilliant, generally to be relied on, makes most of his runs on the on side ; has kept wicket in most of the county matches; is a good field, and a fair change bowler. P erc ival , L. J.—A good and stylish bat and good wicket-keeper; is seldom available. P h il l ip s , 11. C. B.—A consistently good and brilliant bat, and on a hard wicket hardly ever fails to get runs, hitting very hard all round the wicket, but is more at home with fast than slow bowling; when put on to bowl usually gets a wicket; good field. P ugh , C . —Indifferent bat, being too fond of hitting ; wTould make a very good wicket-keeper with practice, and bowls with very high delivery and very quick from the pitch. S harp , B.—A thoroughly sound bat, never taking any liberties wdth the bowl ing or failing to punish a loose ball, and has played several faultless innings during last season, brilliant on the off-side, timing his strokes and placing with accuracy ; bowls very fast, but is a trifle erratic as to pitch ; a brilliant field ; engaged as a professional at Leyland for season 18%. T homas , A. J.—A thoroughly good all-round cricketer; bats with confidence and scores very rapidly all round the wicket, but has not the best of luck; has played some splendid innings and can be relied on against good bowl- ing ; a fast to medium bowler and gets a lot of work on, has been one of the mainstays of the club in this department; a brilliant field in any position. T homas , T. O.—Would make a fair bat if he would play steadily ; a very likely bowler with easy delivery and good pace ; very lazy in the "field. W are , C. II. (captain)— -Has"played very little this season; when well set, a very rapid scorer, hitting very hard on the off-side; has done some good things in bowling and is a good field ; excellent captain, changing his bowling with judgment, and very popular. W hite , E . JE.—A fair bat and brilliant field. W oodward , K. A.—A polished bat, and when set punishes the bowling freely • has kept up his school reputation as best out-field at Harrow, covering" a great deal of ground and a sure catch; can keep wicket.
