(Fettes, Oxford).—A good slow bowler, and fair bat; did not play in 1895. B urrell , Rev. H. J. E. (Charterhouse and Oxford).—A useful all-round cricketer, being a good bat, a successful slow bowler, and fine field. B u r r e l l , R. J. (Charterhouse).—A good all-round cricketer; onl> played once in 1895. F ane , J. L. (Charterhouse and Oxford).—His first season with the County ; a good defence, but scoring with plenty of hitting ; good field. G osling , A. C. (Eton and Cambridge).—Bats in neat style; a sure fielder ; plays little first-class cricket now. H ailey , H.—One of the most useful bats in the team ; has strong defence and any amount of patience; is also a good field; was unable to play much in 1895. H iggins , G. F.—A useful acquisition to the County; an excellent bat with strong defence, and good field ; played one innings of 118 in 1895. J ohnston . A. S. —An exceedingly good bat, with a strong defence and great hitting powers; a capital field ; in the few matches he played in 1895 kept up his reputation. K ortright , (5. J. (Oxford).—One of the best amateur fast bowlers in England; bowled with great success in 1895. L ucas , A. P. (Uppingham and Cambridge).—Plays in correct style with great defence; good field, and useful slow bowler; played one innings of 135 in 1895. M c G ahey , C.—A smart bat. quite one of the best in the County ; good field ; played a fine innings of 147 in 1895, and came out with an average of 26 03. O wen , H. G. (Cambridge)—If not so successful in 1895 as in previous seasons, still a sound and careful batsman; a good field ; captained the team ably. P reeck , H. C.—Made his debut for the County last season with very promising results; a steady bat, and ought to train on. R owe , F. E. (Marlborough and Cambridge).—A sound bat, and good field ; only played once last year. GLOUCESTERSH IRE . B racher , F. C.—His first season with the County ; a good bat, and smart field. D karloye , A. J.—A useful all-round cricketer ; a good bat ; fair change bowler, and safe field; made his debut for the Couuty in 1895. F erris , J. J.—Though he failed to keep up his reputation as a bowler, has been extremely useful to the County as a bat; is quick in the field ; has returned to Australia. G race , W . G .— Has once more proved his right to the title of champion; scored nine centuries m first-class cricket last season (four for his County) and came out with an average of 50’85 for his County and 51 for all matches; his aggregate for the season, viz., 2,316, is the best on record for any one season, and beats any of his previous performances; his phenome nal success last season culminated in a National tribute to his honour. G race , E. M.— Atone time a very effective bat, with a good eye for hitting; has now retired from County cricket. J essop , G. L.—One of the best all-round cricketers in the team ; a fine hitting bat, with good defence; a good fast bowler, and smart field; came out third in the batting averages with 24*04, and third in the bowling averages with 49 wickets for 17*24. K itcat , S. A. P. (Marlborough). —A real good b a t ; fair f ie ld ; bow ls a little , medium pace ; did not play o ften in 1895.
