B rown , W. F.—Fine slow left-hand bowler, bowled with great success in the late matches. M anton , J.—Fine bat when set, hitting brilliantly all round ; fast bowler. P ope , C. G. (Harrow and Cambridge).—Steady, reliable bowler, can always keep runs down ; batted extremely well at the beginning of the season. P otter , F. W.—Steady bat; fast right hand-bowler; had scarcely enough practice to play in his real form. R yder , R.—Dashing bat and field. S anger , J.—Good wicket-keeper; can also make runs. S mall , G. H.—Fine bat and field; unfortunately sprained his ankle in the middle of the season. T urner , A. J.—A steady, promising bat; captain Bedford Modern School. T uring , L. C. R. (captain)—Good, free bat, equally at home against any bowling; fair change bowler. « B arrington , W. B. L. (Charterhouse).—Likely to train as a good bat; good field ; can throw well. C hapman , Rev. C. E.—A free bat, dangerous when set; good fast right-arm bowler. C hapman , F. E.—A patient and painstaking bat; useful at the wicket. C ollins , L. G. A. (Marlborough).—Perhaps the most finished bat in the County, all round the wicket with perfect wrist action, his cutting through the slips being especially well-timed; can bowl, and a very neat field anywhere. C roomk , A. C. M. (Wellington College and Oxford).—Has acted as captain of the team; a dashing all-round hitter and good change bowler, getting plenty of break both ways; knows the game in every department thoroughly. F ield , E. (Clifton and Cambridge).—Has not had much practice in batting this year; a capital field. F inch , F. W. (Haileybury).—A good bat; his forcing strokes being powerful and clean; on his day a most effective slow bowler, right-arm with plentv of curl from leg ; very useful at point. # ’ - - - - - A « A M H ill , E.
