Reading: School.—Matches played, 23; won, 12; drawn, 5; lost, (>.— RmU. Jackson (IS), 1832-5, captain : Very useful behind the wicket, gives away very few bves and is a smart catch. As a bat is steady, correct, and reliable, but laclks power in his driving. J. Hodge (12), 1832-5 : A much- improved bowler. A brilliant field. A really good bat with a variety of strokes, but save for one excellent innings has lamentably failed. .1. T. Clijf' (25), 1833-5: Has borne the brunt of the attack, is an untiring bowler, and has done some very good performances. Vfcry sound field. Hats Yvith great nerve and hits hard and clean. Thoroughly deserves his high position in the averages. It. H. Morris (10), 1833-5: We are thankful to be able to state that he has improved somewhat in the last few matches. Earlier he had shown nothing of his old form, and was not worth a place in the eleven. h\ <1. Clarke (11), 1834-5: An improved bat; very steady and most useful. Has fielded brilliantly all through the season. / / . A. Turner (11), 1834-5 : Has not fulfilled his promise of last year. Has, however, improved, and at times batted well, A fair and improving field. !\ L. Mmtlxey (14), 1894-5: Has abundantly justified our expectations. Has a nice style, and has played some excellent innings. A very fine cover-point. F. Carfitt (18), 1895: A paintaking bat, with a nice off-drive. A thoroughly reliable point. Promises to be a very useful member of the team next year. IT. Haft (3), 1895 : A good left-handed bowler, with a nice easy action. If he takes pains will be of immense service in the future. Much improved in the field, but still has to learn that lie will not be good till he tries his hardest at everything. Should attempt to bat. L. K. Todd (11), 1895 : A plucky bat, but lacks judgment. A good clean field when the ball comes straight to him, but does not start soon enough., ll. //, Moult*- // (11), 1895 : An erratic change bowler, very fair field, and muscular bat. Always plays hard. BOYYrLING AVERAGES. Ovexs. Maidens. Runs. Wickets. K pv . W. <•Eppstein ... 145 34 354 40 W # 1L d »»• •• ... 128*1 30 311 35 A.
