Taylor: A very good, steady bat, having strong defence, and can cut well. As wicket-keeper is above the average of schools in that department, being quick on the leg side and pretty safe when the ball is thrown in. As captain he improved towards the end of the season, and another year ought to be very smart in that position, H. It. Paries: A very good, sound bat; hits well all round the wicket, having a fine cut; a quick scorer. Good field at cover. *C. G. Ftides: Has failed to fulfil his early promises. Has a bad stroke in the slips. Fair field. *J. J\ lledlcy: A greatly improved bat; has a good off-drive. Safe catch and good out-field. A. E. Hind: A good steady bowler, varying his pitch w'ell; breaks either way ; should be very good next year. Fair bat. J. Chapman : Started the season well, but showed a great falling off towards the end. Scores quickly when set; is rather inclined to pull. K . E. M. Barker: A very consistent bat; hits hard; especially good on the leg side. Good fast change bowler. Somewhat uncertain in the field. C. E . ITilson : Improved a great deal as the season advanced. Hits hard on the off-side, his cutting being especially good; has a tendency to cut straight balls, and a bad cross stroke. A good medium bowler; has also met with great success with lobs. A. C. Tweedy: A useful and consistent bat. Good field at extra cover. Can w'icket-keep. *JF. II. Fawkes: Hits hard; when set scores very fast; has a good stroke off his legs. Useful slow change bowler. II. F. Terry : Failed to fulfil expectations, probably through nervousness. Fair change bowler. Should be very good next year. W ELL INGTON COLLEGE. Captain for 1895.—T. H. K. Dashwood. Resu lts o f Matches. Matches played , 9 ; won, 1; drawn. 4 ; lost , 4. | Opponents.
