As a bat was not reliable, though he always seemed to have a determined way of playing, and hit loose bowling well. A brilliant but rather showy field at mid-off. Bowled lobs fairly, but did not generally put himself on often or soon enough. *,/. L. Ainsworth ' The mainstay of the bowling, as will be seen by the analysis. Bowls slow left varies his pace and pitch, and uses his head excellently.* Could he a very good bat if he took more trouble. Very fair field. T. C. O. Bandford: A fine punish ing bat who scores exceedingly fast when set. First-rate field at cover and a useful change bowler. *J. C1. Sale : Variable bat, who came off against Cheltenham. Poor field. <7. M. IT. Howell: Batting much interfered with through having an injured knee. Played a few good innings, h. O. \loir: Disappointing bat. Does not put enough power in his strokes. Fair wicket- keep. *C» B. Wills: A very useful bat, who played very plucky innings a. Rugby and Cheltenham. Good out-field. W. Brest: Good bat, though rather in dined to draw away to a fast ball. Very fair field. *F. K . Hooper: Medium bowler who sometimes got wickets. Poor hat and field. *J. B. Tdfard: Showed promise as a bat at beginning of season, but fell off greatly afterwards.
