He knows the game, and has proved an excellent captain. R. E.Foster: Began the sea come on very fast, and has the making of a first-class bat. Has an excellent drive but ou^ht to cultivate his cut more. *1). >S. Afti/iay. The haid wickets have ’proved too much for his slow bowling, though lie has secured some good wickets. Has not made as many runs as we expected. A good field. A. h. Thompson : Has greatly improved lately, and is now a very reliable bat with a capital stroke on the off. A fair field His wicket-keeping has varied, at times quite first-class and at others somewhat shaky. Was seen at his best at Repton. Takes the ball very near the wickets. A moderate bat, with a style all h.s own. 8. IL Day : A very promising bat, with plenty of strokes. Is apt to be a bit careless. A good field. A7. Graeme : \\ hen set plays pretty cricket, but is apt to fall early to a wretched stroke. Has a 0. W. Wright: Ought to turn out an excellent left-hand bowler. He has gained command over the ball, and gets plenty of spin on. A moderate bat. I ,. Cuninahame ■ A promising fast bowler if he keeps his pace within his strength. Has a beautiful delivery and is very accurate A disappointing bat. Good field. It. S. T. Cochrane : Quite a reliable bat on fast wickets Plays very hard and makes some capital strokes. A very fair field. Johnston : Has not made the runs which were expected of him. Has a good off stroke ; is very weak on his leg stump. A very fair field.
