A very one-sided match throughout, with a decisive advantage to Suirey at all points. Though they had first use of a run-getting wicket the W arv\ickshiie batsmen made a very moderate show in each innings, and the two Quaifes alone had aggregates of over 50 in the match. On the otliei hand, ten of the Surrey eleven got double figures, four of them over 50, and one over loO. The one was Lockwood, who was in five hours and forty minutes for his 158, without giving a chance. Brockwell was the only Surrey batsman who failed to reach double figures, and he did a remarkable bowling performance in Warwickshire s first innings, taking eight of the last nine wickets at a cost of only 28 runs Surrey won by an innings and 226 runs. Surrey, 520. ANarwickshirt, 1-6 and 171; total, 297.
