1 2 0 LILLY WH ITE ’ S C'HK KBTEU s ’ ANNUAL. SOM ERSETSH IRE . O fficers for 1805.— President: Hon. Sir Spencer Ponsonby-Fane, K.C.B. Committee: The President, the Vice-Presidents, the Captain, the Secre taries, R. Here, G. Fowler, W. H. Fowler, J. H. Fox, Rev. M. C Good- ford. V. T. Hill, I j . C. H. Palairet, F. C. J. Parsons, T. Spencer, W. Trask, J. E. W. Wakefield, Rev. A. P. Wickham, and one representative from each affiliated club. Match Committee: S. M. J. Woods (captain), H. E. Murray-Anderdon. lion. Sec.: L. C. H. Palairet. * U p to the end of July it looked as if Somersetshire would have a very unsuccessful season. With the arrival of August, however, came a remarkable change, and with a representative side the County atoned for much of its previous failures. On their own ground at Taunton the eleven were almost invincible, and victories in turn over Sussex, Kent, Surrey, Yorkshire, and Gloucestershire proved of what the eleven were really capable when on their mettle. In batting Mr. L. C. Palairet stood out above the rest, and Mr. Woods was a splendid second, with an aggregate of close on athousmd runs. Tyler, though at times expensive, was the mainstay of the bowling, and Mr. W oods, though commencing badly, was, on the whole, of great use. Captain Hedley was so successful that it was much to be regretted he was only able to play in the latter half of the season. R e su lts o f Matches.
