Atthe outset the ground was slow from rain , and though Kent won the toss Pallett bowled with such success that the wholeside weredismissed in anhourandthree quarters for a small total of 58. Warwickshire, in their turn, lost half their wickets for 21, and but for their captain would have fared very badly . Asit was, Mr. Bainbridge saw the whole eleven out , scoring 65 out of a total of 113. The wicket gradually improved as the game progressed , and Warwickshire , thanks mainly to Diver (68not out), got the 104 runs wanted to win for the loss of two batsmen. Though there was little to choose between the two elevens at any period of the game, Somersetshire played up pluckily till the end and just managed to pull through . Mr. L. C. H. Palairet on the one side , and Mr. Leslie Wilson on the other , werethem o s tin evidencewiththe bat.
