Derbyshire's cricket during the last few years has been quite good enough to warrant its elevation to the first class . O n the whole, last years ' record fully justified its promotion . Its excellent performances against Yorkshire and Lancashire were alone sufficient to prove the excellence of its all -round cricket . Inbowling , the eleven have always been strong , and last years was no exception to the rule . In Hulme, Davidson , Porter , and Mr. G. Walker they have a quartette of bowlers whomit could be difficult for any County to beat . The want is of a slow bowler of some class . In batting if there is no bright particular star , there are several very likely run-getters .
