In 1890, the Veteran Suffolk Cricketer, J. G. Francis, w h o is 63 years old, and his son , H. A. Francis , scored over a thousand runs apiece ; last year, in bona fide matches , they did the same thing , the former playing 42 inns ., 8, not out ; 1,004 runs . Highest, 106. Average, 29.18 . The latter , 44inns .; 10, not out ; 1,387 runs 108, highest score : average , 40.27 . In a match at Melbourne, played in January between, Coburg v. Melbourne , D. Mailer wasgiven out for handling the ball , which had stuck in his pads after being played . April 11. At Basket Range (South Australia ), Eleven Leaks played Basket Range. On July 31st , in a match at Taunton, Kent v. Somersetshire , Tyler was run out by Alec. Hearne, the bowler , in Somersetshire's second innings , for leaving his ground before the ball was delivered . OnAugust 21, at Oval, in a match between Kentv. Surrey , Alec Hearne was bowled by the first ball in each innings of Kent. Onsame day, in same match, Richardson bowled Mr. F. Marchant, with a no-ball in Kent's first innings . The only no-ball Richardsonhas bowledin a first -class match. On August, 18, at Oval, Surrey v, Lancashire , match ended in a tie . The sixth important match on the Surrey Ground which has ended in a tie .-- In playing a ball from Rawlin, in match at Oval, between Surrey v. Middlesex, on M a y5, a piece of Mr. D. L. A. Jephson's bat went off and re- m o v e dthe leg bail . T h ebatsmanwas given out. In matchat Manchester, between Lancashire v. Sussex, Alfred Shaw, the old Notts. player , played for Sussex for the first time , after an absence of ten years from county cricket .
