One of the prettiest bats in the country ; very dangerous on fast wickets ; a keen cricketer ; splendid field . MAINWARING, Rev. P. E. JEPHSON, D. L. A. (Cambridge). Agood bat ; a reliable field and very useful lob bowler , was of great use to the County whenhe played . KEY, K. J. (Clifton and Oxford). Agood bat, with excellent defence and plenty of hit whenrequired ; moderate field . Captained the eleven with great judge- m e n ta n dsuccess. READ, W. W. One of the very best batsmen of the day; plays very straight , andhits all round with great freedom ; a fine field anywhere, and can also keepwicket. SHUTER, J. ( Winchester ). A pretty bat, playing very hard, especially on the off-side ; unfortunate field ; unable to play last year. WELLS, C. M. (Cambridge ). Aneffective slow bowler ; useful bat and safe field . S U S S E X . ARLINGTON, G. H. Promises to become a very fine hard-hitting batsman ; a very good field , but apt to be careless . B R A N NG. A fine free bat and good field . DUDNEY, W. H. A fast , run-getting bat, and fair wicket -keeper . Heasman, W. G. Avery good bat, playing in good style ; safe field and fair change bowler ; was very successful whenhe played. NEWHAM, W.
