A. Melling (6.36 ).- Bats in very cramped style , but has good defence , and is a safe catch . A. C. F. Osborn (3.16 ). Improved all -round during the season , and promises well for the future . N. Cooper (Captain ) (20.80 )-Goodfast left -hand bowler , coming well with his arm and sending down an ugly yorker . Recovered his batting (right -hand) and played some good innings , hitting especially hard between cover and mid-off . Fairly safe catch , good field andthrower . C. E. Burkitt (9.45 )-Very straight bowler, with a most interesting action . Useful defensive bat. Safe catch , and splendid thrower . P. A. Stuart (23.93 )- Afine bat, driving and hitting to square -leg with great power and cleanness . Rather too impetuous , but with experience , and some additional strokes , such as late cutting and playing off the legs , will be first -rate . Agood field , but was disappointing with the ball and gloves . S. T. J. Vidal (6.57 )-Bats in good style , but failed entirely except for two innings . His bowling was disappointing , despite a good action , but his fielding improved . H. S. Cadman (9.37 )-- Was not suited by the wet wickets , but did some good things . His batting is graceful , and his defence sound, though it would be sounder if more vigorous . Fielded very well at mid-off . H. J. D. Walker (18.45 )- Abrilliant hitter , but nothing else . However, a good eye generally ensures his coming off , and his innings v. N e wCollege (Eastbourne ) was perfect . Uncertain field , but throws in splendidly . W. H. Waller (3.12 )-Bowled(right medium) wonderfully well for afirst season , sending down some excellent balls . His slow is extremely well concealed , though uncertain in pitch ; the weakest bat in the team. C. R. R e w (9.33)- Amost promising bat, playing very straight , and having a fine hard forward stroke . Bowls straight with a good action , and did some good things in the field . C. White (8.81 )- H a splenty of cricket in him, but does not invariably produce it . O ntwo occasions his batting saved the team, and onhis dayhe is very useful in every department . R. M. Nixon (7.14 )-Playeda really fine innings v. M. С. С. , butdid little else . He has an excellent drive with which he occasionally takes liberties on the on-side . Should make plenty of runs hereafter . Did some very good at point . W. S. Coombe (4.25 )-With excellent intentions has proved disappointing. C. E. B u r k i t t. H. E. S. Cooper. W . H . Waller S. Hodson (12)-Slowleft -hand bowler, has done well at times , but should not try to bowl too fast . As a bat hits with plenty of power and con- fidence . K. E.
