A sa bat hehas donevery m u c hbetter thanlast year. Agood field , but with too erratic a return . H. E. Kingston : Agood bat, with sound defence . Hehas varied his bowling muchmore than last year, but, as yet, it is not more destructive . Very fair field . *F. N. Townsend; A very good bat, and a fast run-getter . Verygood on the off , rather weakto leg ; has the makings of a first -rate bat. Most useful wicket -keeper , seldom missing a chance on the off . D. McLaurin; A good bowler , medium pace, using his head well. Very useful as a bat, with plenty of nerve and agood eye, but without muchatten- tion to style . Punishes loose bowling well . Fields well . *E. W. Fichardt ; Hashad adisappointing season from a run-getting point of view ; plays straight ; but seems unable to punish loose balls . Smart field , with good return . *J. Cameron ; Has bowled very successfully at times , slow with leg break. Strong hitter , but without muchdefence . Fairfield . P. O. Turnbull ; Hasbeen a very useful change bowler , fast , and at times very deadly , but does not last very long at a stretch . Verygreatly improved both as a bat and field . Should makea good cricketer . H. N. McLaurin; Hasbeen steadily improving as a bat, and at present there is no cleaner hitter in the XI. If only he cultivates his defensive powers , he will makea dangerous bat. Sure and energetic in the field . * W. R. Murray; Plays rather too mechanically , and does not watch the ball closely enough, has some very good forward strokes , and has been improving . Verysmart slip . D, J. Mitchell ; Very uncertain bat but has played good innings occasionally . Goodfield at point . M. S. Scott : A keen cricketer , and, though a very uncertain bat, has been improving through the season , andhas donewell n o wandthen. Slowin the field , buttries his best.
