Wilson : A very good bat, havingstrong defence , and can hit well all round ; very good fast right hand round arm bowler , keeps a good length , able to vary his pace . Owing to a serious cold, was not able to take part in the matches in the early part of the season , as he ought to have. Butat the end of the term he came out in his old form, both with bat and ball . He proved himself a good captain . *E. F. R. Holroyd: Goodbat, with a long reach , but did not makemuchuse of it, perhaps owing to nervousness . *S. P. Bell : A good steady bat with a strong defence ; safe field . H. R. Parkes : Bats in a nice free style ; can hit hard to the off , ought to be good next season ; goodfield . C. G. Fildes : Opened the season very successfully ; but afterwards developed a bad cross stroke , which often cost bim his wicket. Good field at mid-off. With care ought to be good next year. T. L. Taylor: Good bat, strong defence , can hit well all round. Keeps wicket very well andshouldturn out first -class in that department. J. A. Smyth: Hits hard, especially on the leg side . Fair left hand bowler ; good field . J. P. Hedley: Goodsteady bat, strong defence . Plays with a straight bat, can hit well, requires a little more confidence ; safe field . A. E. Hind: A very steady left handbowler, keeps a good length . With care might develop into a good bat. J. A. Beazley : A useful bowler at times , as a bat is not to be depended upon; a good groundfield . O. I. Winter-Irving : Bowls well at times ; fair bat; slowin the field .
