Alexander : Unfortunately , prevented by illness from playing in any but the first match. Hewas animmense loss andhis absence materially affected the results . H eseemedlikely to maintain his reputation as a fine bat, fair bowler , and smart field . A. F. Vernon: Took captaincy . As yet inexperienced ; has a good deal to learn in handling the team. In batting he has not fulfilled last years promise , being too anxious to score . Tolerably correct field : does not cover enough ground. W. M. Salt : A very useful bowler ; hard-hitting bat, but fails to play straight . Active field . C. F. Thornton : uncertain wicket -keep, saves byes , but often misses chances at wicket . His batting has improved ; apt to lose his head in running . *H. A. Lowe : energetic and dashing field , faulty bat, with some hitting power ; has improved during season . Notalways successful as a bowler . F. H. Oldham: keen cricketer . Plays hard, but often mis-times bowling , and is weak on off . Hard-working field , but uncertain catch . J. H. Thomas: has a fine reach ; weakin backplay : and fails on slow wicket . Not a good field . * C. O. Tuckey : Apatient bat, with some defence , but little style : cuts well and can play off his legs . A slow field . H. D. Banning: A nervous bat, and pulls to leg . Brilliant in long field . G. Moser: hardly fulfilled early promise as a bowler . Bats in good style , but has weak defence . A fair field . C. E. Finny : A lucky hard-hitting bat ; a puzzling bowler . A n indifferent field . F. H. Humphrys: Likely to make a good fast bowler. At present of little value as a bat. Slow in the field , but tolerably correct . T O N B R I D G E S C H O O L . Captainfor 1894-B. D. Bannon. R e s u l t so f M a t c h e s . Matches Played , 12 ; Won, 8 ; Drawn, 3 ; Lost , 1. Club.
