С. СCarter has madean excellent captain , and has deserved far greater success than has fallen to his team. His exertions as captain and a certain amount of nervousness have told on his batting and bowling , neither of which have been up to his last year's standard , or what wasconfidently expected of him. Agood and at times brilliant field , either at short slip or elsewhere . M. D. Cooper : a free hard -hitting bat on both sides of the wicket ; especially good in driving , into which he puts a great deal of power . Asafe catch and excellent out-field , but should be more careful in throwing in. M. M. Knight : a good bat with some nice strokes : has a very effective stroke off his legs , in which , however , he is inclined to indulge too often , thereby risking his wicket . Hits very hard for his size and strength . Has been successful with lobs
