Excellent wicket -keeper , kept exceedingly well throughout the season , fair bat, captained the team with great judgment. G . P. Gore (Captain for 1895) : A very good bat, getting his runs very fast when he does start , rather more hard-hitting powers than defence , very fair bowler , excellent field at long off . J. H. Stogdon : Avery good bat, hitting very hard all round the wicket , scored consistently well throughout the year, good short slip . *C. D. Williams : Good bat , especially on fast wickets , a very good slow bowler , breaking considerably both ways, a very good field . R. Vibart : Agood bat, with a beautiful style , though his batting did not comeup to expectations , fair bowler , excellent field , especially at third man. *J. L. Fisher : Batted well on the slow wickets , but not so successful on hard ; moderate bowler , fair field . A. S. Crawley : Fair bat, hitting very hard whenset , but very nervous at first , excellent cover- point . *J. Bradshaw: Good bowler , with a baulking action . Poor bat, very slow in the field . A. Page : Fair bat, hits well on the leg side , good field , and safe catch in the country . *A. W. H. Bentinck : Good bat, with an excellent defence , but crampedstyle , fair point . *F.
