Perkins (capt .) : Adashing though by no meansreckless bat ; alwaysto be relied uponfor runs. Bowledwith great success and judgment. Excellent field anywhere. As a captain , showed great keenness and discretion . A. Finch : Amuch improved bat, playing with more confidence ; madeseveral very useful scores . Good field . E. C. Osborne ; Agood cricketer ; but with disappointing results . Good field . T. Burrough : Kept up his reputation as a good steady bowler , but except for a couple of innings was disappointing in his batting . F. L. Hinde: An excellent bat, always made runs in good style . Mustimprovedin his fielding . R. H. F o y: A good fast bowler, but is easily tired . Seemedto lose all his batting of the previous year. Excellent field . C. Wells : Came on wonderfully as a batsman ; generally good for a few runs ; splendid field , while he can still bowl a bad ball as well as anyone . P. Lerick : Is generally safe for runs whenwanted; secured a few wickets , but did not howl up to his reputation . W . T. Cruikshank: A most useful bat; hits very hard while he has improved his defence . Excellent out-field . F. T. Anderson : A really first -class wicket keeper ; especially good on the leg side . If he could only improve his batting , would be good enough for any side . P. M. Brydone : Avery good and attractive bat ; well carried his place in the team. Must however improve his fielding . H. Gray: Steadied downinto a really good bowler ; fair bat. With a little morekeenness for his side , wouldbe mostuseful . O R I E LC O L L E G E . BATTING AVERAGES. -R. C. N. Palairet , 30.5 ; P. F.
