Parsons , T. Spencer , W. Trask, J. E. W. Wakefield , Rev. A. P. Wickham, and one representation from each affiliated club . Match Committee , S. M. J. Woods (captain ), Bridgwater , H. E. Murray-Anderdon, Taunton (Hon. Sec. ) T h eretirement of Mr. H. T. Hewettnot only fromthe captaincy, but also fromthe eleven , caused a gap in the Somersetshire team quite incapable of being filled in one season . Considering this heavy loss the Countydid fairly well, and two victories over Kent, Gloucestershire and Sussex represented b y no meansa bad performance . Inbatting Somersetshire had decidedly a strong side , andnot onebutseveral membersof the eleven scored very fast as well as took a lot of getting out whenset . Mr. L. C. H. Palairet and Mr. V. T. Hill played consistently well throughout , and Mr. Woodson occasions , notably against Surrey at the Oval, showed great power of hitting . Mr. D. L.
