For the purposes of this match, Notts were not fully represented , Sharpe, the ex-Surrey bowler , among other new players , making a first appearance for his native shire . The scoring thoughout was fairly high , Warwickshire leading the w a ywith an innings of 351, in whichthe chief feature was Mr. J. E. Hill's not out 139, compiled with equal confidence and judgment. Notts having been dismissed first time-mainly through the bowling of Whitehead, whose eight wickets cost only 47 runs for 149, did so much, better in the follow -on as to achieve a total of 275. In each innings H. B. Daft (54 and 60) did yeomanservice , while Flowers (53), Mr. Dixon, and Mee lent valuable assistance in Notts ' second venture . Losing four good batsmen in making the 74 needed , Warwickshire won b ysix wickets . Warwickshire , 351 and 74; total , 425. Notts , 149 and 275; total, 424. (2) Notts v. Surrey Nottingham, M a y14 and 15. Lacking the services of Gunnand Shrewsbury, Notts were of course at a great disadvantage .
