Adangerous bat whenset ; fine field . LITTLE , C. W. (Oxford ). A steady bat and very fair wicket -keeper . MARCHANT, F. (Eton and Cambridge). Agood bat and a fine outfield ; a very fast r u n-getterw h e nset. MASON, J. R. (Winchester ). Made a very promising first appearance for his county both as batsman and bowler ; although new to first -class cricket plays with great confidence ; will probably assist his county more often next s e a s o n . MALDEN, E. ( Wellington ). Kept wicket for the county on several occasions with considerablesuccess. PATTERSON, W. H. (Harrow and Oxford). Almost, if not quite , the most careful and painstaking bat of the day ; good field ; can bowl a little ; was again of the greatest assistance to the county. RASHLEIGH, W. (Oxford). A good batsman, with a very pleasing style . STEWART, H. C. Plays in good style , and is likely to train into a good bat ; excellentfield. WEIGALL, G. J. V. (Cambridge). Agood bat and moderate field . WILSON, L. (Tonbridge ). Areally good bat and smart field ; played fine cricket throughoutthe season. PERKINS, T. N. (Cambridge). Plays for Kent. A fine hitter , scores freely against every kind of bowling . Goodfield . Has captained the eleven with skill and judgment. STOCKS, F. W. (Danston). Agood left -handed bowler , easy delivery . Played few times for the county last year , and at times with success ; promising batsman and capital field . CROSFIELD, S. M. A good bat, and splendid field , and rendered good service to his county during the past season ; captained the eleven in most of the matches , and with judgement. HORNBY, A. N. (Harrow). Still a dangerous bat, hitting very freely ; as ener- getic as ever in the field . HUBBACK, T. R. (Liverpool ). Excellent reserve wicket -keeper ; quite young; and exceedingly promising ; very fair batsman. KEMBLE, A. T. Very plucky and good wicket -keeper ; is also a good bat, and frequently scores well , particularly at a pinch . MACLAREN, A. C. (Harrow). A n excellent bat, having splendid defence , with plenty of punishing power ; played very fine cricket in the earlier matches in particular. STEEL, A. G. (Marlborough and Cambridge). Still a fine all-round cricketer ; a first -class batsman; good medium-pace bowler, and fair field ; does not play m u c hfirst -class cricketn o w. STEEL, H. B. (Uppingham and Cambridge). A very heavy hitter , dangerous b a t s m a n. HOULDSWORTH, W. H. (Manchester ). An exceedingly promising young player ; tried for county few times last year with fair success ; hits very hard, and is usefulin theout-field.
