As acaptain has shewn great judgement and inspires his menwith confidence . L. M. Crump-(3.) Acapital bat ; has improved greatly since last season ; smart and safe in the field ; his bowling has been scarcely so successful this year as last . F. A. West-(5. ) : A very uncertain batsman ; a capital bowler (fast round ), with a very good length ; a fair , sometimes brilliant , field . J. C. Jack-(7.): Plays with a very good style , but has been unfortunate ; hasnot madethe improvement expected in wicket keeping . J. Duncan-(7. ) : A free hitter , but did not as a bat , realise the expectations formed from his last year's play ; uncertain in the field . F. G. Gilling-(7.) : Plays with a straight bat, thoughoften inclined to slog ; an excellent bowler ; a good catch ; though at times sleepy in the field . H. E. Hughes (6. ) : Afair bat ; rather unlucky ; his fielding was capital in the early part of the season , but fell off greatly . W. R. Duckworth -(5. ) : A stylish , but uncertain batsman ; fields well ; bowled with success when ever tried . J. A. Duncan--(25) Arather weak bat ; an excellent and promising slow bowler ; fielding good though occasionally faulty . H. Beausire-(5. ) : А good defensive batsman, and a safe field ; might prove a bowler with more practice . G. R. Haigh-(8) : A capital bat for his years ; has bowled well and with great promise . A very fair field . A. S. Clarke -Batted well and steadily , until an unfortunate disagreement deprived the team of his services ; a very fair bowler, and sharp field . Hardly satisfied expecta- tions in the matter of fielding . Average 60-11 . H. B. Daniell (1892-3 ).-Bowls left -handmediumwith a good deal of work from the leg . Quite failed to fulfil his last year's promise of batting . A nuncertain field and did not get back to his wicket for a run-out. Average 2.86 . Bowling :-41 wickets for 349 runs ; average 8:51 . Arthur Morrison (1892-93 ).-Avery straight and steady bat with little punishing power ; played several extremely useful innings . As a wicket-
