TONBRIDGE SCHOOL ELEVEN IN 1893.-B. D. Bannon, Captain (1891-92-93 ) : Afine bat, especially on a hard wicket ; plays very straight and making full use of a good reach ; drives well on either side of the wicket . Hepromises to make a first class player , and we shall look for still greater doings from him next year. A scaptain , has kept his team well together , and set them a good example as a hard-working field . D. Ronald (1890-91-92-93 ) : A very good bat, having an ex- cellent defence , and this year has not failed to take full advantage of loose balls . Unfortunately was absent for the greater part of the term owing to ill health . A fine out-field returning well to the wicket ; a fast but erratic bowler, with practice might be useful . *K. Clarke (1891-92-93 ) : Has improved tremendously in his batting since last year. Has a good defence , and playing in nice style , scores freely all round the wicket . Avery good field , especially in the slips . *G. M. Hill (1892-93 ) : A good hard hitting bat , and has much improved in his batting since last year. Has scored very consistently all through the season , and has kept wicket with great success . *H. O. Hubbard(1892-93 ) : Agood reliable fast bowler (right hand), rising quickly from the ground and breaking both ways. Afree bat witha fair amountof defence , but with the exception of one score , has not done himself justice ; safe field . W. F. Cooper (1892-93 ) ; His batting has not come up to expectations , although on occasions he has scored well . Bats freely , but is rather weakin his back play, and is at times inclined to hit half -heartedly . A good out -field , returning very well to wicket . *E. N. Carlton (1892-93 ) : A good medium pace bowler (right hand), generally keeping a nice length and breaking slightly from the off . Afair bat and uncertain field , but is inproving . F. C. Hartley (1893) : A good all round player . Bats in good style with ex- cellent defence , and scores well on all sides of the wicket . A very good slow bowler (right hand), with a big break from leg , but at times is a bit uncertain about his length ; a good field . J. Body(1893 ) : Avery good fast bowler (right hand), breaking from the off ; at times has been almost unplayable . A nuncertain bat, but occasionally hits well ; good field . *M. O. Hodson (1893 ) : A steady bat with good defensive powers , but might play with more vigour and nerve . Asafe field at cover point . *R. B. Airey (1893 ) : A very free bat, at times driving well , but is uncertain , and is lacking in defence . A brilliant field at point. U P P I N G H A M S C H O O L . Captainfor 1893, G. R. Bardswell.
