Asa bat has not fulfilled expectations , is rather weak on the leg, but has madeuseful scores when badly wanted. As a rule fields very well . F. B. Newett (1892-3 )- T h emost successful bat of the school , combining sound defence with good punishing power, but fell off latterly . In the field shewed a deterio- ration on last year's form. E. D. Matthews (1892-3 )— Apretty bat, and during the last half of the season shewed very good form, hitting well on the off sides , but was too muchinclined , especially early on, to try and hit straight balls to leg. Goodfield , and a successful change bowler at times . B. W. V. King(1892-3 )- A s abat, shewed great improvement in the last four or five matches , andwith a little morepatience would become really brilliant ,but unfortunately is too muchinclined to hit recklessly at first , Avery fair mediumfast bowler , but inclined to be short , an excellent field whenhe likes , but too casual . G. W. Stone (1892-3 )- A sa bat shewed excellent promise at the beginning of the season , and shewed great im- provement on his last year's form. As a bowler has not done so well as last year, but the fast wickets have been against him. Veryslack in the field . O. Andrews (1893)--Mediumright hand ; keeps a very good length and comes up off the pitch quickly , seldom bowling a loose ball . The school's reliable and effective bowler . Magnificient field in the slips . G. P. Wilson (1893 ) -A very pretty bat, and shews great promise for another year . Fair change bowler, but inclined to bowl short . E. A. Royds (1893)--Began the season very well , batting in good style and hitting very hard on the off . Fell off in the last few matches , but shewed excellent form at Shrewsbury . Goodfield at point . H. Thwaites (1893 )--Is a very useful bat, with a strong defence , never taking liberties with the bowling, and generally hard to get rid of. In fielding he has shewn great improvement lately , but is very slow both between the wicket and out in the field . G. N. Hampshire(1893 )-Althoughhe had not kept wicket for some time he improved rapidly . Standing well up he allowed very few extras as a rule , but , although taking the ball well, does not put the wicket down quickly enough. G. F. Tetlow (1893)- A nexcellent field at cover -point , seldom letting a ball that he can get to pass him, A moderate bat, but too muchinclined to cut straight balls off his wicket. C a nalso b o w l.
